Dr. Matthew Hinsley is the author of Creativity to Community: Arts Nonprofit Success One Coffee at a Time.
He has spent a great deal of energy trying to understand what makes some organizations succeed and others stagnate or fail, and, as the Austin Classical Guitar Society has risen to become one of the most successful entities of its kind, more and more people are asking him how it can be done elsewhere. As the Director of the 2010 GFA and host of the Presenters Congress component, Dr. Hinsley has the understanding of the special needs, challenges and resources of the classical guitar. As the person most responsible for the growth of ACGS, raising well over $1,000,000 since taking the helm in 1996, he has techniques and resources ready to help YOU and your group, be it large, small, new, old, dormant or a dream
A bonus for attending the conference will be showcase recitals by young virtuoso classical guitarists Arina Burcéva, Jon Mendle, Ray Zhou, Matt Lyons during the day, with Gohar Vardanyan & Jesse McCann's evening concert included!
From Daniel Roest, Conference Director,
Sacramento Guitar Society President

"I can think of no better consultant to assist guitar societies and small non-profit arts groups than Dr. Matthew Hinsley. From our first meeting at the 2008 Guitar Foundation of America (GFA) Convention and Competition in San Francisco to our recent conversations on the state of the art in our favorite art form, classical guitar, I have seen that he has exceptional gifts for communication, organization and fundraising. JOIN US in this first annual gathering of guitar societies covering topics vital to the success of our many efforts to bring artists and audiences together - and to provide support for those practicing classical guitar, whether they live in a big city or far from one. The conference is conveniently located on the campus of Christ Community Church,
5025 Manzanita Ave, Carmichael, CA 95608

Plan your weekend after Tax Day to learn all day long from a series of segments led by Matt Hinsley, then relax after dinner with two emerging artists in concert - for a memorable and informative conference that will yield results for your group - or a group you want to start - for years to come.
You'll be able to meet and network with other guitar society representatives, pre-submit questions for Matt that are especially important to your group, and find out what's working and what's not. If you live in a classical guitar dead zone with no action at all, it need not remain that way!

Stay tuned as this conference develops for a continually updated list of participants and sponsors!
